Upon enrolling, you’ll receive an official hard copy or ebook of the IAPP CIPP/e training textbook, which covers all the topics you’ll need to know to pass the exam.
In addition, the CIPP/e training comes with an exam voucher that you can use to take the official IAPP CIPP/e exam at home or at one of the 6000+ exam centers within 12 months of the course. To help you prepare, we’ll also provide you with a full test exam and review with your instructor, as well as access to an additional online preparation session within 3 months of course completion.

How does the CIPP/e certificate help you put the requirements of the GDPR into practice?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a complex and far-reaching regulation that sets strict requirements for the processing of personal data. The IAPP CIPP/e training program is specifically designed to help you understand and put into practice the requirements of the GDPR, so you can effectively understand your company’s privacy challenges and confidently start managing a privacy compliance program within your organisation.
You’ll learn about data protection principles, data subject rights, the requirements for data processing agreements with vendors and partners. You will get to better understand the GDPR’s risk-based approach and how it compares to requirements found in information security management. You’ll also learn about the roles and obligations of the data controller, data processors, and better understand the position and responsibilities of the data protection officer.
In addition to understanding the requirements of the GDPR, the training program will also provide you with the practical tools and techniques necessary to implement a privacy compliance program within your organisation. You’ll learn how to conduct privacy impact assessments, develop policies and procedures, and implement privacy by design and default. You’ll also learn about the key operational aspects of privacy compliance, including data breach notification and vendor management.
Your trainer, Alex Carroll
Alex Carroll (FIP, CIPM, CIPP/e, DSB, QMB, ISO27001 Lead Implementer) is leading the consulting team as Consulting Manager at TechGDPR and engages in product design, training and auditing. Following 10 years as an adult trainer in multicultural settings, he specialised in quality frameworks in 2013. Alex holds an MA in knowledge management and e-learning development from the Liberal Arts University of Montpellier III, a BA in quality, security and environmental management from the law University of Montpellier I, and is certified by TüV as Data Protection Officer (Datenschutzbeauftragter) and as Quality Management Officer (Qualitätsbeauftragter).
He is recognized as Fellow of Information Privacy, and certified as CIPP/e and CIPM by the IAPP and ISO27001 Lead Implementer certified by PECB. His experience in adult education, eLearning, quality management is collected from projects in academic environments, European institutions, e-commerce companies, customer and subscriber service departments, which includes General Motors, the European Parliament, and the University of Texas. More recently, his experience in data protection, privacy and security management is collected from consulting a wide range of clients at TechGDPR from clinical research organisations, video streaming, e-commerce, social impact, telecommunications, insurance, blockchain and identity management. Alex is also a conference speaker and moderator at privacy and security conferences and contributes to publications.
Enrollment Details
The cost of our CIPP/e training program is €2650 per person (excl. VAT, group discounts available).
The amount is payable in advance. The course fee is refundable minus a € 200 administration fee up to 30 days before commencement, afterwards the participant may be exchanged or the course may be postponed for a € 150 administration fee.
Invoices are issued for all orders. Your seat is confirmed as soon as the payment is received. The course contains about 15 hours of net learning time (contact hours) plus additional information networking opportunities and support.
The CIPP/e training course will take place in the board room of TechGDPR in central Berlin, just minutes away from Alexanderplatz.

Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone who is interested in privacy and data protection, and who wants to become certified in IAPP CIPP/e, is eligible to enroll in our program. There are no prerequisites or prior experience required. If you are unsure, we do recommend you book a 15 min talk with our trainer before enrollment to help determine whether your profile and motivation are adequate.
The program is available in two options: a 2-day course or a 4-half day course. Both options cover the same material and are fully English-taught. After the training program itself, it is recommended to study the material more in-depth before taking the exam. We also include one exam preparation session to answer your final questions before you take the test in one of the many test centers around the world.
